Congratulations to the First CERT Team of the Municipality of Colquechaca!

What began in February with the training of 25 community leaders, including Eng. Ricardo Mamani from IPTK, has now become an important milestone for Bolivia. By sharing the knowledge he acquired, Eng. Mamani led the training of the first CERT Team in the Municipality of Colquechaca, composed of community leaders prepared to support emergency response efforts and strengthen the resilience of their communities.

As part of this process, participants received their certificates, as well as basic equipment and tools that will strengthen their capacity to respond in an organized and safe manner whenever their community needs them most.

We congratulate each new member of the CERT Team for their commitment and dedication to serving their community. We also extend our gratitude to IPTK and the Municipal Government of Colquechaca for supporting this initiative, which sets a precedent for community preparedness in Bolivia.

Bolivia CERT Impact Report 2026: Building Community Disaster Preparedness and Climate Resilience

Friends of Mother Earth is pleased to release our latest Impact Report, documenting the successful launch of our Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Train-the-Trainer program in Bolivia.

This report highlights the training of 25 local CERT instructors across six departments — Pando, La Paz, Beni, Chuquisaca, Cochabamba, and Santa Cruz — laying the foundation for Bolivia’s first nationwide network of community-based emergency responders.

Our work focuses on strengthening:

    • Disaster preparedness and emergency response capacity
    • Climate resilience and adaptation to floods, droughts, and wildfires
    • Community-led solutions that protect lives, livelihoods, and ecosystems

Through locally led training and partnerships with universities and public institutions, this initiative is advancing a scalable model for disaster risk reduction and environmental resilience in Bolivia.

As we move into Phase II, we will expand this effort by supporting local trainers, strengthening institutional partnerships, and building a coordinated national network capable of responding to climate-driven emergencies.
