Friends of Mother Earth was conceived of in early 2024 when Christian was attending a conference about the fires in Bolivia. After learning about his experience working for the State of California on wildfire matters, he was approached by Indigenous representatives from impacted communities who were present. They told him that they needed help with early warning and wildfire suppression, before the fires became too large.
